Space design (bar design company) contacted me about creating a branding package for a Japanese Grill, to be built in the food court of Westfield, Guilford. I also worked closely with them on the overall visual appearance of the Teriyaki Express work station and counters.Below you will see a series of images and information that showcase the work that was created by Kayfabe for this project.
Teriyaki Express Elevation D signage. Raised lettering on a black marble surface, overprinted in yellow are abstract Teriyaki T's. The lines for each T continue through each side of the elevation. (see below for full layout of overhead signage)

Final build details for the signage elevations for Teriyaki express. At the bottom you can see each elevation when placed together so that the yellow printed T lines begin to take shape and convey the movement of the 'express' concept.

A view at the corner of elevation D, where the back illuminated menu's are situated next to where you order your meal. Also in the background you can see the staff wearing the Teriyaki Express branded kimono's.

An example of the drawings for the T shape for Teriyaki. The idea was to convey subtle movement within the letter so that it didnt fall into the 'Oriental typography stereotype'. The first drawing was in the black paint at the bottom of the page and progressed into the current T used in the logo.

Primary Logo for Teriyaki Express - Japanese grill. You can see the final T shape that was used for the logo. The accompanying typeface allows the T to flourish without become stereotypical or to alienate the companies target audience of young proffesionals.

Secondary Logo for Teriyaki Express - Japanese grill. The T has more hierarchy in this logo layout and as such the T of the full logo has reverted back to cool grey 1 but the point size of the font does not change.
